Covestro will showcase material solutions for the construction, mobility, robotics and renewable energy sectors at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), taking place on 5-10 November 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The company will be at Hall 3H, Booth 3B3-05, as part of the booth of ADNOC, its majority shareholder through XRG.

Return to CIIE

According to Covestro’s announcement of 3 November 2026, the company is returning to the fair, which has been held annually in Shanghai since 2018. Covestro last took part in CIIE from 2021 to 2023.

Highlight: Baytherm-based insulation board

The featured exhibit will be an exterior wall insulation board made with a special Baytherm polyurethane (PU) formulation. According to the company, the board offers ultra-low thermal conductivity and requires a layer about 20 percent thinner than conventional PU for the same insulation performance. It carries China’s B1 flame-retardant rating, the highest for organic insulation materials in the country, and complies with Shanghai’s exterior wall insulation requirements.

25 years in China

The announcement also marks 25 years of intensive investment by Covestro in China. Ground was broken in November 2001 for the company’s integrated production site near Shanghai, which is today Covestro’s largest single production area. The Polymer Research Development Center, launched the same year, has since become the Covestro Asia-Pacific Innovation Center.

Covestro CEO Dr. Markus Steilemann said CIIE provides an important platform to engage with partners in China, while Holly Lei, President of Covestro China, highlighted a quarter century of manufacturing and innovation in Shanghai.
