Covestro will present its expertise in cast polyurethane elastomers under the motto “The Material Effect” at UTECH Asia / PU China 2026, taking place on 3-5 November 2026 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. The company will be at Hall 1, Booth 150.
Vulkollan in focus
According to Covestro’s announcement of 30 October 2026, the main focus of the booth will be Vulkollan, a high-performance polyurethane elastomer. The material is used in applications such as AGV wheels, railway buffer elements, protective components for robotic feet and joints, and agricultural rollers.
For Vulkollan CQ, which uses mass-balanced or low-emission raw materials, Covestro estimates a carbon footprint reduction of up to 35 percent compared with the conventional grade (cradle-to-gate, ISO 14040). The company is also building a chemical recycling pilot plant for high-performance elastomers at its Leverkusen site.
New prepolymer series and 40 years of Baulé
At the show, Covestro will launch the Desmodur 15 R prepolymer series alongside the existing Desmodur 15 S series. Marking 40 years since Baulé casting machines were first introduced in 1986, a new Baulé machine designed for the Vulkollan process will also be on display. The announcement also highlights cast elastomer applications in sealing, construction, oil and gas, and mining.
Thomas Braig, Head of Elastomers at Covestro, said the company will demonstrate the material effect of cast polyurethane at the show, turning materials, processing and application know-how into value for customers.
